A Nostalgic Journey Through Melodies and Lyrics
Formed in 2018, Atozome is a four-piece rock band that has captivated audiences with their nostalgic and dramatic tunes. The band's sound harkens back to the 80s and 90s Japanese music scene, with the lead vocalist delivering both delicate and powerful performances. Atozome's intense and full-of-life band sound transcends the realm of pop and catchy melodies, creating a unique sonic experience for their listeners.
In 2019, Atozome received the Excellence Award at the HOTLINE 2019 Tokyo Area Final. They released their first album "幻灯" (Gentō) on April 19, 2020, and just recently unveiled their second album "飄々として" (Hyohyotoshite) on March 18, 2023.
One of the standout tracks from their new album is the fourth song, "孵化" (Fuka), which translates to "Hatching." The song features thought-provoking lyrics that paint a vivid picture for the listener:
Sunlight seeps through the curtains for countless times
What comes out of my mouth
Is it my voice, a cry, or a plot?
The deepening blue blood flows throughout my body
Risking my life for survival
Even people start to look faint
It's a disaster
A hopeless body long ago
Everyone knows
What they generally desire
The umbilical cord is the last boundary line
Thunder, thunder, thunder
Hatching
Tonight, after burying me
Let's put a full container of white hot water
As always
You give me the leftovers
With mercy and poison
You'll probably give me the bait
Pre-war approaches
Unexpectedly summed up
Crawl around the pulse, silently
Keeping something
Generally insane
Turn the mirror down right now
Thunder, thunder, thunder
Hatching
"孵化" (Fuka) showcases Atozome's ability to craft literary lyrics and weave a dramatic soundscape, offering listeners a nostalgic journey through melodies and words. The powerful vocals, combined with the band's intense sound, create a unique listening experience that transcends conventional pop and catchy tunes.
Atozome's second album, "飄々として" (Hyohyotoshite), is a testament to their growth and evolution as a band. With its serious and nostalgic melodies, literary lyrics, and exceptional musicianship, Atozome continues to captivate fans and make a name for themselves in the Japanese music scene.
